Key specs explained for this drive
Storage Capacity: 4.0TB
You get 4,000 gigabytes of space for your games and files. This capacity helps eliminate storage shortages on your PS5 console. You can save both PS5 and PS4 game titles directly to this drive. Compare this to smaller 1TB or 2TB models if you have a large library. It ensures you do not need to delete games frequently to make room for new downloads.
Interface: USB3.2 Gen2
This interface standard supports data transfer speeds up to 10 gigabits per second. It allows for faster loading times compared to older USB 3.0 drives. You benefit from quicker game installations and file transfers. When shopping, look for this spec to ensure compatibility with modern consoles and computers. It is the standard for high-performance external storage devices in the current market.
Protection: Shockproof, IP55
The drive features a shockproof design and an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance. This protects your important game data from physical drops and light rain. You can carry it in your bag without excessive worry. Compare this to drives without ratings, which are more fragile. This durability is useful for portable use away from your home console setup.

Before You Buy This Drive
You should verify your console’s USB port type before purchasing. This drive includes both USB-C to C and USB-C to A cables, but your specific PS5 or PS4 model may require one over the other. Ensure your console’s software is updated to support external storage expansion. You will need a separate USB hub if you want to keep other peripherals connected while the SSD is plugged in. Keep the drive in a dry place despite its IP55 rating, as it is not fully submersible. This 4.0TB option sits alongside smaller 1.0TB and 2.0TB variations in the BUFFALO lineup. If you need more space for your game library, this larger capacity is suitable. For users who prefer a stick-style form factor, the SSD-SAO model is also available. Check the available sizes to match your storage needs. This drive is designed specifically for console gaming, so it may not be the best fit for general PC file storage compared to standard NVMe drives.
