Specifications side by side

How to choose the right DATO SSD

1. Check physical dimensions

You must verify that the drive fits your available space. The top pick measures 3.5 inches in length and 1.81 inches in width. This larger form factor suits users who prioritize rugged protection over compactness. The second option is significantly smaller at 2.52 inches square. If you need a drive that slips easily into a pocket or small bag, the smaller model is the better choice. Always measure your storage compartment before buying to ensure compatibility with your specific gear or case.

2. Evaluate weight and portability

Weight impacts how comfortable the drive is to carry daily. Both models weigh 1.41 ounces, making them equally lightweight for travel. This low mass means you can add storage to your bag without adding significant bulk. If you are a mobile professional who moves between locations often, this consistent weight is a practical advantage. You do not need to worry about the drive becoming a heavy burden during long trips. The light construction supports easy handling and reduces fatigue when carrying multiple devices.

3. Assess device compatibility

You need to ensure the drive works with your primary hardware. The first model is explicitly compatible with PS5 consoles, making it ideal for gamers who need to store large game files externally. The second model highlights magnetic attachment for iPhone 15 Pro users, targeting mobile filmmakers. If you are expanding console storage, choose the PS5-compatible option. If you are recording video on newer iPhones, the magnetic model offers a secure connection. Match the drive to your specific device ecosystem for the best experience.

4. Consider storage capacity

Capacity determines how much data you can store. Both listed models offer 2TB of space. This size is sufficient for most users who need to store large files, such as 4K videos or game libraries. If your workflow involves handling massive media files, 2TB provides a reliable buffer. You do not need to choose between different sizes here, as both options provide identical storage. Focus your decision on other factors like physical design or specific device integration, since the capacity requirement is met by both drives.

5. Review attachment method

The way the drive connects affects its stability and convenience. The second option features a magnetic attachment system, which allows for quick and secure mounting to metal surfaces or compatible devices. This is particularly useful for iPhone users who need a stable connection for high-bitrate recording. The first model relies on standard USB connection without mentioned magnetic features. If you prefer a drive that stays firmly in place without cables dangling, the magnetic option is superior. Consider how you will use the drive to decide if magnetic attachment is necessary for your workflow.
